Harlot's Nest-Vasa Varicosa
Taking on a very unique sound from the start, Harlot's Nest conjures orgiastic and enchanting Melodic Black Metal with strong Post-Punk and Gothic influences. These elements are particularly manifested in bass pulsations and the keys and synths used herein, producing magical, romantic melodies, reminiscing with acts like Kanashimi, particularly on the dar pop-ish ballad that is the intro track, but with an also excellent and daring synth solo on the second track. However this reminiscence definitely remains in the guitarwork which, despite maintaining a notorious ferociousness, carry somber melodies in it, producing a kind of darkened bewilderness and seduction, like being drawn by a malignant succubus into its treacherous den where many hearts have shattered, and flesh decayed.
An absolutely staggering release, definitely fitting for fans of Midnight Betrothed or Mystic Forest.
