Second offering from the French Offensive Metal Kult featuring members of Destroyer 666, Hexekration Rites, Necroblood, and Destruction Ritual. Invoketh is a defiant fist in the face of those who would sand down extreme metal's rough edges for mass consumption. Over the course of Hell's Black Vomit's 21 minute runtime, Invoketh howls and churns through 5 tracks executed with barbaric intent and bristling with a punk rock fuck-you energy rarely heard in nowadays extreme metal. The signature sound that distinguished the band's 2025 demo—a Cerberean triple vocal attack spewing bile over black/death metal riffage-is on full display here and devastatingly effective. Equally effective are the tempo dynamics, which range from a pummeling up-tempo bulldozing to an ominous doom trudge that is employed to its fullest potential on The Wings of Malevolence and the final moments of The Virgin Impaler. It is these dirge-like passages, in which traces of Incantation or Dead Congregation may be heard, that provide some of the demo's most memorable atmospheres and lend variety to the relentlessness of Invoketh's assault. Sophistication is neither the intent nor the method here, yet this variety, alongside elements like the addition of subtle keyboards on the aforementioned Wings of Malevolence and the searing lead guitar harmonic shrieks that pierce the stratosphere high above the din of the title track, display a level of skill that should be unsurprising to those familiar with the past resumes of this outfit's members.
