Hinterland-A Wild Lament
The debut of this project, probably related to Plainchant somehow.
A project that weaves its music through atmospheric black metal textures with some degree of aggression mostly carried through the gritty vocals. Even if the melody is enveloped by the typical guitar tremolo or sparse synth occurrences that greatly enhance the harmonies, it cannot get rid of the background hatefulness, too intense to erase.
Lyrically, using nature and history as thematics but also musically creating a howling blizzard yet harmonious atmosphere, it surely reminds of some of Forteresse magnificent works.
This is one of such records where all ends are finely tuned, not only the songwriting but also lyrics, making it a complete and perfect cut gem, a dark one, with a great instrumental folk treat on the fourth track just to make it even better.
